DESCRIPTION: APW – Illinois, Sangamo Special, marked 60 Hour, 23J, 17S, rare heavy 14K green gold OF original Sangamo Special rigid bow case with threaded front and rear, rear with attractive engraving detail surrounding a shield with blue and white enameling, white enamel DS 17S dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, jeweled barrel arbor, broad transverse band pattern nickel damascene, s#4758654. Gross weight of assembled watch 68.5 dwt (106.5 g). The 14K solid gold Sangamo Special Model rigid bow cases are quite rare, and the enamel inlay to the rear of this example is very attractive and is the first example of enameling we have seen with a gold Sangamo Special rigid bow case. CONDITION: Mvt: Ticking sluggishly, overhaul recommended, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, balance jewel setting is a brass replacement, scattered fine and micro-fine scratches with greatest profusion around balance jewel setting, third wheel jewel setting, and larger winding wheel center hub; excellent dial with only a faint outer chapter hl at 8; excellent hands with minor oxide; case shows little wear, no dents or dings, good engraving detail, enameling is substantially intact with only a few minuscule flakes; bow with excellent engraving detail, crown shows light wear; good glass crystal.
